Fight for Women’s Rights – German Culture and Society
Grammar makes genders, which differs in languages. This workshop will focus on women’s rights in German culture and society. Equal rights are a main topic of recent debates in German society and politics. After a brief introduction on German language we will discuss recent changes in the public visibility of women and women’s history in Germany. Angela Merkel shaped the image of German women in domestic and international politics. Ursula von der Leyen (President of the European Commission) sets the Commission's policy agenda. How did women change society? How do men react to the changing gender ratio? What’s about the gender agenda of the political parties in Germany?
Workshop skills:
- German grammar and the three genders.
- Introducing and discussing women’s rights.
- Historical background of women’s rights in Germany after 1945.
- Historical background of basic rights.
- Gender equality.
